PUBLIC HOLIDAY PLANS – 15 JUNE 2026

You may already be aware that last month, councillors agreed Monday 15 June 2026 will be a bank holiday as designated by Scottish Government, to celebrate Scotland’s participation in the FIFA Men’s World Cup.

The power to amend school holidays sits with the Education and Children’s Services Policy Board. They next meet on Thursday 21 May, and when they do they will be asked to formally approve the closure of our schools and nurseries on Monday 15 June.

In advance of that, parents may wish to consider their childcare options for Monday 15 June, should the closure be approved. The council will contact parents after the meeting on Thursday 21 May to confirm if the closure has been approved.
