Children’s Mental Health Week 2022
This week is Children’s Mental Health week. This year the theme is Growing Together, growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.

Keep Safe Kids app
The Keep Safe Kids app is a new and easier way for children and young people to access health and wellbeing information and support as well as to report bullying directly to their school.
Pupils can open the app and make reports at any time of day or night as well as make anonymous reports, helping them to control when and how they tell someone about an incident or their concerns. Reports are sent directly to that child or young person’s school to be picked up in line with the school’s anti-bullying and wellbeing policies. Reports are not held on the app or accessible to anyone else, ensuring confidentiality and reports will not be picked up outside standard school hours. If you have wellbeing concerns for your child, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We are here to help. To find out how to download or use the Keep Safe Kids app, visit the I Am Me Scotland website https://iammescotland.co.uk/keep-safe-kids-app |

S1 KoolKid Gig
On Friday afternoon, all S1 pupils attended an event in the auditorium with the musical act KOOLKID. The event focused on mental health, the causes of mental health, who to turn to for help and the importance of speaking up. KOOLKID also discussed the importance of treating each other fairly, why diversity should be celebrated, what to do if you're being discriminated against and why it is wrong to discriminate against other people. A few lucky pupils even managed to get an autograph at the end of the gig!

Parent's Evenings This Session
Dear Parent/Carer
Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and feedback from Parents/Carers we are reviewing our approach to Parent’s Evenings this session.
In place of traditional face-to-face, in school Parent’s Evenings with paper-based appointment booking we plan to trial the use of an online platform which facilitates both online booking and video meetings.
The platform we plan to trial (Parents-Booking.com) has been used by other schools in the Local Authority who have received positive feedback on how accessible and easy to use the platform is.
The timings of Parent’s Evenings will remain the same (4-6pm). Information on how to access the platform will be shared ahead of the first Parent’s Evening, including a video guide.
We are keen to ensure that as many Parents/Carers as possible can access and engage with the online Parent’s Evenings, so would be grateful if you could complete the short survey here.
Regards,
Mr D Dunlop
