PARENT COMMUNICATION – CAR PARK

Posted by G Menzies - 2 months ago

Dear Pupils, Parent/Carer,

You will recall that I wrote to parents/carers in October 2023 to inform you of the discovery of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in the roof of our gym halls, games hall and fitness suite facility. Two weeks ago, I wrote to parents to inform them that the contractors would be beginning work on the PE facilities at the start of June.

I have been in regular contact with representatives from Renfrewshire Council and the contractors and I can confirm that work will begin on Monday 3rd June 2024.

As part of their work, we will have reduced space in our upper car park for the duration of the contracted work. Therefore, we have created a planned footpath for our pupils to enter and exit the school grounds through the side gate on Camphill.

As we will have reduced car parking during this time, you may find that there will be limited space for parents/carers during pick up and drop off periods. I would request, where possible, that if you normally pick up or drop off in the school car park, that you discuss alternative locations with your child to alleviate congestion with cars, and the school buses who require to turn in our car park.

To support your understanding of the impact this will have on the car park, please see above, a detailed plan of the area that will be used by the contractors and the footpath to be used by our young people. Please note that the yellow strip will be the pupils footpath and all other areas will be fenced off within the contractors compound

I appreciate the continual disruption this is having to PE lessons, exams and to our young people, but I hope you are assured that the safety of our pupils and staff is always our priority.

With very best wishes to you and your family,

Gordon Menzies
