Effective Revision

You need to do more than just review what you have to learn
Reading and highlighting will not cut it—research shows that this is inefficient
You need to review, practice and check activities

First 15 minutes
Focuses on reviewing what needs to be learned
Planning is important to ensure time to cover all the topics
Topics should be spaced out

30 minutes – Practice quizzes, self – testing using flash cards, practice exam questions, past papers, BBC bite size
The testing is the important part here – the retrieval practice – strengthening the pathways – bringing information from the long term memory.
Half an hour devoted to this because it so important.

Last 15 minutes – check the correct answers – supports learning and identifies mistakes.
